All my life I have heard people say “You are what you eat!”. Yes, this is true and this image is a great representation of that.
For years, I have tried this diet, that program, and those thing-a-ma-jiggers…. all with little to no lasting effect. In almost all of those cases, I was not happy in one way or another. I am a huge believer that health is the major component for a better life! Can it be as simple as this:
- If your nutrition is in order, you’ll have more energy.
- If you have more energy, your brain functions better.
- If your brain functions better, you make better choices.
- Your life quality is the product of your choices.
I wholeheartedly believe so, which is why, for the past 6 months, I have been following a nutrition regimen that is high in fat, moderate in protein, and very low in carbohydrates. A 75%/20%/5% macronutrient ratio to be exact (for me at least). This is the basis of a ketogenic lifestyle.
I won’t get into the nitty gritty here, but I have never been more clear headed, focused, satiated, and just overall happy than I am currently. A ketogenic regimen has made all the difference in the world. I am currently down, just over, 48 pounds, have lost 5 inches from my waist, am off all but 1 of my medications, and don’t have that mid afternoon, or post meal, crash.
There are a lot of naysayers and folks with an opposing stance to the keto methodology, however, I truly believe if more people would look at the research and understand the bio-chemistry that takes place with different nutrients in our bodies, we would have nearly the obesity epidemic that we have.
